Sustainability & Compliance

At Zeeko, sustainability is not an afterthought — it is part of how we design, manufacture and support our products. We operate in line with European environmental regulations and, wherever possible, we go beyond what is legally required.

Compliant by Design

Zeeko products and packaging are developed in accordance with relevant EU environmental frameworks, including:

  • EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
  • EU Circular Economy Action Plan
  • Waste Framework Directive requirements
  • Emerging principles under the Right to Repair Directive

These frameworks focus on reducing waste, improving recyclability, increasing product longevity, and limiting unnecessary plastics. Our design and production processes align with these objectives.

Exceeding Regulatory Requirements

While compliance sets the baseline, Zeeko chooses to go further. ♻ Recyclability Built In

  • Use of recyclable materials wherever possible
  • Recyclable thread used in construction
  • Recyclable care labels
  • Lock made from part-recycled plastic

Many textile accessories are not required to meet this level of material transparency — we implement it voluntarily.

Repair Instead of Replace

The EU’s Right to Repair Directive promotes repairability in electronic goods. Although our products are not currently mandated under this regulation, we have:

  • Designed the lock mechanism to be repairable
  • Enabled component replacement to extend product life

This reduces waste and aligns with future durability standards before they become compulsory.

Take Back Programme

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles are becoming central to EU environmental policy. Zeeko voluntarily supports these principles through our:

  • Take-Back Programme, allowing schools to return used products
  • Assessment for repair, refurbishment, or responsible recycling

This ensures materials are recovered and reused wherever possible, reducing landfill and supporting circularity.

Designed for a Circular Future

Regulation in Europe is moving toward greater durability, repairability, and material transparency across all product categories. Zeeko has chosen to align early with these expectations — not because we are required to, but because it is the responsible way to operate. We believe schools should not have to choose between safety and sustainability. With Zeeko, they don’t.
